Why a Fair Trade Retreat Bag?
Fair Trade provides talented artisans employment opportunities, pay, and protected rights often unavailable in their developing nations. Our artisan partner Saa, who expertly handcrafts these bags, learned her sewing skills in Chiang Mai. She was employed in the city but returned to her remote Thai village on Mount Inthanon for her marriage. This resulted in losing her job, and she is extremely grateful Fair Trade brought work to her village, including the sewing machines! She is now happily raising their two children to know their traditional hill tribe culture while sharing her sewing skills with you. The income Fair Trade brings to their lives allows her children to have nutrition, education, and healthcare.
